About Us

Set within the grounds of Heaven Farm, the Butler family are now fourth generation farmers, having farmed in Sussex for over 300 years. The strong family passion for British food production and high standards of animal welfare is at the heart of The Butler’s Pantry, as we use not only our own produce but also that of our neighbouring local farmers in the Farm shop and our Farm kitchen. Each month we focus on a local producer, host a supper club with the farmer themselves to enjoy  a tasting menu of their produce and have specials in the Farm Kitchen every day.

The menus reflect the seasonal variation of our local environment and also embrace the idea of a traditional Sussex Farm Kitchen, where the whole family convenes to enjoy good food and wine after long hours working on the farm.

September we celebrate British Pork with Richard Bates our local Pig Farmer from Chelwood Gate

This month we focus on British pork with our Farmer of the month Richard Bates, our local pig farmer from Chelwood Gate. Richard has known our family for many years and we are proud to be using his high welfare pork throughout the farmshop and Kitchen. Join us for our Meet the Farmer supper club on Friday September 19th where Richard and his wife Linda will be there to talk about the British pig industry and how he has changed his business over the years to achieve high welfare standards and great pork. His pork will be the focus of our specials in the farm kitchen and samples of his different sausages will be available to try in the farmshop. He is known locally as ‘The Sausage Man’ so we have dedicated a pizza this month as a special just for him!

Richards sausages are the star of our breakfast menu so make sure you make time this month to try them! They will be available in the farmshop to buy and also feature in our food to go range available from the shop, our sausage rolls have a pretty good reputation already! The Sunday roasts throughout September will be Roast Pork so if you love crackling and all the trimmings book a table now!

Join us at our family farm, with your family and experience the best of Sussex produce that runs alongside our seasonal calendar, as well as the Latchett’s ice cream parlour run by Grant Butler, Rachael’s brother.
